Whitburn Amateur Art Club
Whitburn Amateur Art Club are a small friendly well-established group who meet between 7-9 pm on Wednesday nights in the local Community Centre. Although the club is run on a drop in basis with no formal tutor on hand, we regularly instigate and attend workshops run by professional artists.
The club is open to anyone over the age of 18 with an interest in painting. Good, bad or average, absolute beginner or painter extraordinaire: if you desire to share your enthusiasm for painting our club will make you welcome.
The members work with all mediums of art materials and are always keen to try new techniques and develop existing skills. To encourage stimulation and motivation, recent outings have included visits to Dirlton Castle which, included an invitation to the opening of a painting exhibition, a visit to the Glasgow Burrell Museum and two workshops run by a professional artist at Crail Harbour.
Over the past 18 months we have been fortunate to exhibit work in Howden Centre, Livingston and are presently involved in the new S.P.L.A.T. (Strathbrock, Partnership, Local, Art, Team) project which will enable us to exhibit on a permanent basis in Broxburn, although this is still in the early stages of development.
