Livingston Camera Club

Livingston Camera Club meets weekly, from September to May, at Crofthed Farm, Community Education Centre, Templar Rise, Dedridge, Livingston. Membership is open to men and women wishing to develop their knowledge of photography. It caters for those with experience to those starting out on their photographic journey. Membership, covering a wide age range, meantime stands at around 50.

Monday evenings form the formal part of the club activities. We are fortunate to be able to attract high quality speakers who demonstrate the breadth and scope of photography, both conventional and digital. In the session 2005/2006 topics range from the Royal Navy Photographic Team, Nature, Medical Photography, Press Photography, Sports Photography and Portraiture to name but a few. Some evenings are devoted to club competitions where members receive constructive feedback on their entries from independent judges.

Inter club competitions within Lothian provide similar opportunities.

The educational activities are further developed on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Informal educational sessions are organised by experienced members to support and encourage those wishing to develop skills and techniques. This could cover digital techniques, 35mm film, macro photography, studio lighting or any photographic subject of interest to members.

The club is fortunate to have conventional and digital dark room facilities which support our on going teaching programmes.

Exhibitions, which allow for the display of member’s work, are held annually in Almondvale Shopping Centre and recently in Howden Park Centre.
The club has also developed links with the West Lothian Youth Theatre and in recent years has been involved with West Lothian Council in photographically documenting activities of several of the voluntary groups throughout the region.
The club looks forward to working with other arts groups in West Lothian through the SPLAT Project.
