Bathgate Camera Club
Bathgate Camera Club is one of several camera clubs in West Lothian. We meet every Monday at 7.30 pm from September to April, at Bathgate Community Education Centre, Marjoribanks Street, Bathgate. Membership is open to everybody over 16 years of age with an interest in photography.
The club has a membership of around 20. If you are interested in photography in general, or would like to learn more about digital imaging or black & white photography - this is the club for you. Our members cover different media - ranging from compact digital cameras to very sophisticaed digital SLR cameras as well as convential film SLR cameras - 35mm and medium format.
In our club meetings, we often have workshops to exchange hints and tips. Speakers from all over Scotland come to our club to share their photographs and experience with our members.
Bathgate Camera Club has several permanent exhibitions - for example, one in Bathgate Health Centre and one in Bathgate Community Education centre. In 2002, we contacted a camera club in Germany - Jena 78. Since then, we have built up a relationship with this camera club and exchange and assess photographs several times per year. Both in Germany and Scotland exhibitions were held to display the work of both clubs. In November 2004, four members of the Jena 78 Camera Club visited us in Scotland and attended the SPF Scottish Print Championship.
Our club members are very active and meet regularly outwith the club meetings to take photographs, to have a model night or simply to socialise and chat about equipment, software etc. - or just to have a cup of tea.
