Welcome to SPLAT
Strathbrock's New Art Gallery puts "Art at the Heart of the Community".
The walls of the Centre have become a huge new gallery thanks to a new partnership with SPLAT. SPLAT is a new organisation made up of seven existing voluntary groups who joined forces to create the fascinating exhibition of around 150 original artworks (paintings, drawings, and photographs) you can see today.
The seven groups involved in SPLAT are Bathgate Camera Club, Livingston Arts Assocation, Livingston Camera Club, Low Port Art Group, Mid Calder Camera Club, Whitburn Amateur Art Club, and Winchburgh Art Club Day Group. Representatives of each of these independent groups have been working together for more than a year to realise their dream of a busy, exciting, permanent gallery and exhibition space.
Having secured £12000 from the Scottish Arts Council and West Lothian Council to pay for framing and the new picture hanging system, the group is continuing to work with local businesses to raise funds to support new developments in the gallery. Watch this space for news of SPLAT's arts forums and demonstrations in the centre. Over time, the group aims to develop these into educational workshops and art classes in different techniques.
If you have any questions about SPLAT, comments on the exhibition or suggestions for the future, please contact Peter Clarke (Secretary of SPLAT) on 01506 200 474.
